Greenwich Borough Neighbourhood Watch Association

How to set up a Neighbourhood Watch

If you are interested in setting up a NW scheme,  these, briefly, are the steps:

  • Contact your Greenwich Police Safer Neighbourhood Team
  • Set your aims and objectives ~ decide the issues you want your NW to tackle.
  • Appoint the Co-ordinator ~ who will be a key part of an effective scheme. Their role would include maintaining the Neighbourhood Watch in a specific area and acting as a link between the scheme, other co-ordinators, the local police and the local authority.
  •  NW activities ~ Once you have a co-ordinator and have set up the NW scheme with the police, you can then undertake activities to ensure the scheme runs smoothly. These might include circulating crime prevention advice, newsletters and stickers to members, encouraging members to report suspicious activity and holding regular meetings.
