Greenwich Borough Neighbourhood Watch Association Coordinators toolkit:

Setting up a new Neighbourhood Watch Scheme

You’ve taken that first important step in deciding that your community would benefit from a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.

Starting out

First check to see if you’re already in an existing scheme.

Get some help

The more people involved in running a scheme the easier the task.

Spread the word

Contact the people in your community to tell them about the new scheme and get their support and involvement.

Register your scheme

The association can help you as long as we know about you!

Street signs and stickers

Help advertise an active scheme by installing street signs and affixing stickers.

Training

GBNWA arranges training sessions throughout the year for all registered co-ordinators to take part in.

Insurance

Free Public Liability Insurance (PLI) cover is available for Neighbourhood Watch schemes and associations in England and Wales.

Costs

Running a scheme will incur costs such as producing newsletters, running a website or hosting meetings.

Funding

The GBNWA is unfortunately not able to provide funds direct to Neighbourhood Watch Schemes.

You’re established

Once the scheme’s original objectives have been achieved, you’ll need to maintain the scheme.
